After all, with its beautiful parks and warm weather, it’s the perfect place to be during this time of year. But what really makes visiting in spring so special? Well here are 10 reasons and more why you must book a flight to experience Toronto in the season of rebirth and renewal. From foodies to seniors, travelers, or just people wanting some leisure – there’s something for everyone!

Hop On Hop Off Bus Tour in Toronto

A hop on hop off bus tour of Toronto in the springtime is the perfect way to experience everything the city has to offer. Discover all the major attractions at your own pace – hop on and hop off whenever you want, so there’s no need to rush through sightseeing. I find taking this tour on the first new day in any city will help get you orientated quickly to the city. Keep your eye on the CN Tower, it is a great landmark if you get turned about.

With moderate temperatures and fewer crowds, it’s a great time to explore Toronto’s beauty, diverse culture, and vibrant activities with ease. Experience Canada’s most populous city this spring on a hop on hop off bus tour and create lasting memories.

Indoor Attractions In Toronto

Toronto in Springtime, 2023

A visit to Toronto in the spring is met with pleasant temperatures and uncrowded attractions, making it the perfect time to explore all the wonderful indoor attractions that this beautiful city has to offer. From AGO – one of Canada’s largest art museums – to ROM CN Tower and Casa Loma, you can find fantastic places to discover indoors. If being surrounded by rainforest, witnessing live performances or exploring interactive exhibits at Ontario Science Centre is your thing, you won’t be disappointed. Of course, if you are looking for some retail therapy, shopping malls like Eaton Center have what you need. There’s something for everyone in Toronto and a trip during the spring will ensure that you have an amazing time!

Depending on the temperature there are indoor and outdoor patios where you can sit and people-watch. In Toronto, we have a saying that Toronto has two seasons winter and patio season.  A post-COVID benefit was the creation of Café TO.  It is a program where restaurants and coffee shops are able to expand their seating capacity by expanding to the sidewalks and the curb lane of many streets.  Most will be open by late spring.

Outdoor Attractions in Toronto

Toronto in the springtime is the ideal time to explore some of the city’s great outdoor attractions. The Distillery District, The Toronto Zoo, and The Brickworks are all incredible experiences that shouldn’t be missed. The Distillery District offers over 70 unique shops and restaurants nestled in an old-world setting. The Toronto Zoo is always a hit with the entire family; its interactive exhibits will bring up your inner animal! The Brickworks at Don Valley, on the other hand, provides a wonderfully dynamic natural space perfect for exploring and getting back to nature. This is just a taste of what Toronto has to offer outside during its milder months, so start exploring and discover more!

Spring in Toronto is the perfect time to get outside and explore the city – Cherry Blossoms included. For the Cherry Blossoms most people will head to High Park to view.  I would recommend a couple less crowded areas to see the blossoms – outside the Robards Library at the University of Toronto. Or Trinity Bellwoods Park is a smaller park where you can find the blossoms for the Instagram pic!

Rent a bike and tour the waterfront.  For Seniors, this trip is relatively flat and has a segregated bike lane for much of the distance.

Take a day trip over to Toronto Island for beautiful views of Lake Ontario, wander around Ashbridge’s Bay or Cherry Beach Park or catch a ferry out to Hanlan’s Point for an adventure! Whether you want to picnic in one of the many parks along the waterfront, watch a family movie night outdoors, or go kayaking around the harbourfront, there are plenty of outdoor activities in the city waiting to be explored this spring.

Recommended Day Trips from Toronto

Toronto in the springtime is the perfect time to explore the city and venture out beyond it! Niagara Falls offers spectacular views, Niagara on the Lake offers a quaint escape, and Collingwood and Blue Mountain have plenty of outdoor excursions.

Niagara Falls is an easy drive from downtown Toronto or on weekends take GO transit and save the driving to someone else (after the May long weekend there are daily GO Trains to the Falls). Check out the falls, a casino, or a show.  The Falls is highly recommended.

On the other hand, but in the same area is the community of Niagara-on-the Lake. Filled with great restaurants; beautiful b’n’bs and 19th-century hotels, this is a very romantic getaway location.  I recommend you go visit the wineries in the area.  My fav is Ravine Winery.

If the Falls aren’t your cup of tea, another excursion could be up to the Collingwood/Blue Mountain area.  Note you will need to rent a car for this journey.  Blue Mountain is known primarily as a ski resort in the winter but I have attended a couple of conventions there in the summer and it is well worth it.  Biking, zip-lining, hiking, and more activities await.

Whether you’re looking for fun shopping or breathtaking scenery, there’s something for everyone on a day trip from Toronto. So grab your friends or loved ones and plan your next big adventure!
