Hotel 2170 Montreal Review for Seniors: Is it Worth it For Senior Travellers

Hotel 2170 Lincoln in Montreal: A Home Away from Home
Introduction
Hotel 2170 Montreal review for seniors, confession, I have stayed here many times, long before it was called Hotel 2170. Back in the days when it was the Residence Inn by Marriott, this was my unofficial Montreal base. I used it while visiting for tennis tournaments, photography projects, and the occasional weekend when I simply wanted to stroll Westmount and enjoy good food and better people-watching.
So when the name changed, I went back to see what was new and whether it still felt like the comfortable, practical hotel I counted on. I am happy to say it still delivers, especially for senior travellers who want easy transit, quiet comfort, and the convenience of a kitchen in the room.
Who is Hotel 2170 Best For?
Best for: Seniors who want kitchenettes and walkable downtown access.
Skip if: You want luxury finishes or nightlife energy.
Location: Excellent. 5 minute walk to metro.
Noise: Moderate on lower floors. Especially if you are a late sleeper, around 8 to 9 am you could begin to feel an increase in street noise depending on how sound a sleeper you are
Value: Strong for longer stays.
Noise, Elevators, and Bed Comfort
Noise
Street noise depends on floor level. Higher floors are quieter. Ask for rear facing rooms.
Elevators
Two elevators. Peak times may mean short waits. No long stair climbing required.
Bed Comfort
Firm mattress. Good for back support. Not pillow top luxury. Bring your own pillow if sensitive.
Thing to remember, this is a 1970s-apartment conversion to a hotel. I won’t have that shiny new hotel appearance. Where it wins is location and effectiveness for long-term visitors.

My first impressions returning after the rebrand
Walking through the front entrance felt familiar. The hotel has updated its look, but it still has the extended-stay comfort that made me a repeat guest. The lobby staff greet you like actual humans. The building has a relaxed atmosphere, which I always appreciate after a long trip.
Upstairs, the rooms felt brighter and more modern. Everything looked cleaner and fresher. It felt like the same reliable place I used to stay, but with a much-needed facelift.
Why the Location Works Well for Seniors
One of the biggest reasons I chose this hotel was the location. That is still the case today. Hotel 2170 sits right on the edge of Westmount, a safe, calm, walkable neighbourhood that is perfect for seniors who prefer easy access to everything without the noise of downtown nightlife.
Atwater Metro is a short walk away
This is ideal for seniors who want to get around without a car. The Green Line makes sightseeing very simple.
Alexis Nihon Mall is close for groceries
I have bought everything from groceries to last-minute socks here. Having a mall so close is a huge perk for senior travellers.
Walking distance to downtown attractions
You can walk or take a quick metro ride to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Sainte-Catherine Street, Concordia University and the Golden Square Mile.
The neighbourhood is calm
Even when downtown is busy, this area stays quiet. It is one of the best reasons to stay here instead of right in the centre.

Hotel 2170 Montreal accessibility notes
Hotel 2170 Montreal accessibility is generally good. The entrance is level, the elevators work well, and all common areas are easy to navigate. Seniors who walk independently should not face issues getting around the building.
However, travellers with significant mobility challenges may want to double-check room layouts in advance. The hotel does list accessible rooms, but not all accessible bathrooms are as spacious as some travellers might need.
If accessibility is a priority, I strongly recommend contacting the front desk before booking to confirm an accessible room and ensure the features match your needs.

Rooms and amenities: what I like most
Over the years, this has been one of the most senior-friendly hotels in Montreal for a very simple reason. The rooms are big. Not “just enough space to lay your suitcase on the floor” big. Actually big.
Most rooms have a full kitchen or kitchenette, a living area, work desk, and plenty of storage. Some units even have balconies, which I personally love for winding down after walking around the city.
Why the kitchens matter
Senior travellers often appreciate having:
- a place to prepare breakfast
- space for medication
- a fridge for snacks
- a stove for simple meals
- the ability to eat healthier while travelling
For me, this is a game-changer. The convenience reduces costs and stress, especially for longer stays.
The beds are very comfortable
This is not always guaranteed in mid-range hotels, but I have always slept well here. Mattresses have good support, and there are plenty of pillows.
A quiet hotel overall
Since it sits in a calmer neighbourhood, you are less likely to hear late-night noise or traffic.
Fitness room and shared amenities
I have used the fitness room a handful of times. It has enough equipment for a solid light workout and includes a few cardio options. The view from the upper floors is lovely.
There is a guest laundry room, which has saved me on several longer visits.
Breakfast is sometimes included, depending on the season and staffing levels. I have had both excellent and chaotic breakfast experiences here, so consider it a small bonus rather than the main reason to book.

What real guests are saying
To make this Hotel 2170 Montreal review for seniors more balanced, here is a mix of feedback from other travellers.
Positive impressions
- Guests consistently praise the spacious suites and full kitchens.
- Many say the value for the price is excellent.
- Staff hospitality often receives strong comments.
- Visitors like the quiet neighbourhood and short walk to transit and groceries.
Mixed or negative comments
- Some reviewers found the parking garage extremely tight for SUVs.
- A few guests said breakfast was unavailable despite being advertised.
- Decor is simple. A small number of travellers felt it was not “modern enough.”
- At least one traveller with mobility challenges found the accessible bathroom too tight.
Even with the occasional negative review, the majority of guests seem to appreciate the same things I do. Space, convenience, quiet surroundings, and the kitchens.
Travel and Fitness – Sweat with a View
The penthouse gym view gives you enough motivation to keep pedalling long beyond your planned time.
The gym is stocked with standard hotel equipment. You won’t find heavy weights or a wide assortment of cardio machines but enough to get a maintenance sweat on!
Barring that, you can always walk up Mount Royal via McGill University.

Who Hotel 2170 is best suited for
Senior travellers
This hotel is great for seniors who want convenience without unnecessary luxury pricing. The location, kitchen, and quiet rooms work very well for older adults.
Multi-generational families
If you are travelling with adult kids or grandkids, the two-bedroom suites are incredibly useful.
Travellers staying five nights or more
The laundry, kitchen, and extra space make longer stays more comfortable.
Budget-minded travellers
Hotel 2170 gives you a lot of value for its price bracket.
It may not suit travellers who want a trendy boutique aesthetic or hotel-restaurant dining. But for comfort, convenience, and reliability, it performs well.
My suggested list of things to do in Montreal
Nice nearby spots that seniors will love
These places are easy to access and pleasant for low-intensity outings:
- Montreal Museum of Fine Arts
- Westmount Park
- Atwater Market (one metro stop away)

- Concordia and Bishop Street cafés
If you enjoy photography or gentle walking, Westmount alone can keep you occupied for an entire afternoon.

Final Thoughts
If you are looking for a senior-friendly hotel that offers comfort, value, space, and incredible convenience without the downtown chaos, Hotel 2170 is still one of my top choices in Montreal.
